On St. Marks Road in Bangalore, somewhere in my childhood, a friend and I cycled all the way to buy cassettes…and found the Big, Bigger, Biggest… Greatest Hits of Mr. Big.
And it changed my life, forever, as I was introduced some serious 80s rock music… the best that was made during those times by a very talented band.
Some of the tracks are:
1. To be with you
2. Wild World [By 'Cat Stevens']
3. Green tinted sixties mind
4. Colorado Bulldog
And somehow that memory remains fresh in my mind, when I heard someone playing guitar that way… man oh man… and I would dream of playing that way too… and would be screeching the words, which would be incorrect, of course.
Somehow, last year… I started collecting their music, and chanced upon ‘Lean into it’… this to me is an album, where every song is fantastic… some songs are so blues-rock… great vocals, simple guitar riffs but very very catchy…
I’ve been hooked to this album, and I don’t that will change for a while…
Some of my favourites from this album are:
CDFF – Lucky this time, Voodoo Kiss, Little too loose and Road to Ruin… among the favourites on the album mentioned above…
Even though the bandmembers have gone their seperate ways in order to pursue solo careers [and each one of them were virtuosos in their own instrument, alright]… their music will live on…
Listen to this one… it’s an album for keeps for any 80s affecionado…
